Shelley Padilla holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Mathematics from the University of Northern Colorado and a Master of Fine Arts Degree in Dance from Texas Woman’s University. Shelley’s performing career includes dancing with Colorado Ballet, Classical Dance Theater, Ballet Arts, Ballet Ariel, Collin County Ballet Theater and currently, Elledanceworks Dance Company. Shelley has presented research at the Teaching for a Change Conference in June 2008, World Dance Alliance Conferences in May 2009 and July 2010, and she has had choreographic work adjudicated and performed in the Regional Dance of America Festival in May 2008.  Some of her most recent projects include presenting The Grilled Cheese Express, a dance video, at the World Dance Alliance Conference in New York (July 12th 2010), producing Dancing to Restore the Gulf, a free dance concert endorsed by the National Wildlife Federation to raise funding for oil spill clean-up efforts (July 31st 2010), and presenting It Will Hold You and Me, a collaborative choreography/text project with Texas Poet Laureate Karla K. Morton at the Langdon Review of the Arts in Texas at Tarleton State University (September 9th 2010) . In 2009 Shelley earned the Excellence in Teaching Award from TWU’s Department of Dance. She also teaches dance at Collin College and North Central Texas College where she was awarded the Gordon Yeargon Adjunct Faculty Member of the Year for 2009-2010. Shelley lives with her husband and four children in Allen, Texas.
