Originally a weed patch, this seven acre plot underwent a remarkable transformation into the green sanctuary it is today. Led by faculty and students during the 1930s and 1940s, this haven for flora and fauna was the site of the inaugural "Texas Wildflower Day" and inspired the creation of the first chapter of the Native Plant Society of Texas.
