The Student Organization of Communication Sciences (SOCS) is a student managed organization which encourages professional interest among students at the university in the study of normal and disordered communication behavior. It also provides a vehicle of student representation in matters of professional concern. SOCS sponsors activities for the students such as community service, sponsoring individuals to attend workshops, fund raising, scholarships and social activities. Any student interested in the study of normal and disordered human communication behavior is eligible for membership in SOCS. Majors in the department are encouraged to participate. SOCS has been named as one of the outstanding student organizations at TWU.

The Convention of American Instructors for the Deaf (CAID)
The Convention of American Instructors for the Deaf (CAID) is a student organization for students who are interested in Deaf culture, American Sign Language (ASL), Deaf Education, or working with the d/Deaf in the future. CAID provides opportunities to volunteer in community based events with members of the deaf community. CAID also sponsors activities for students such as social activities, fundraising, guest speakers, service projects, and sign practice. Majors of Communication Sciences and Disorders are encouraged to participate.
