Permission to open CHEC was granted by The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) in October of 2009 and the facility opened in January 2010.
The Center is a partnership with five universities and Collin College.
It provides:

Area residents the convenience of earning a bachelor, master or doctoral degree in Collin County without having to take a course on the home campus

Online and video conference classes as well as face-to-face classes are offered
