Albert J. Schmidt, Certified Command Spanish® Instructor

Mr. Albert J. Schmidt is a certified Command Spanish® instructor trained to deliver the various industry specific curricula to professionals in the areas of health, law enforcement, education, construction and other professional fields.

Mr. Schmidt's career has been as a marketing professional with emphasis in Latin-American trade. He speaks Spanish fluently and is fully bi-cultural having lived extensively in Mexico and the United States.

He received his bachelor's degree from the University of the Pacific in Business Administration with emphasis on International trade. He minored in biological sciences and has considerable experience in the health industry. Other educational background includes post-graduate studies at San Francisco State College, Thunderbird School of International Trade in Phoenix, Arizona, and the Instituto Tecnolojico de Estudios Superiores de Monterey (ITESM) in Mexico City.

He was an international buyer for major department stores and import/export firms. He was president and CEO of a consortium of sixty major Mexican manufacturers marketing their products in the U.S.A. as well as Director of Corporate Development and Government Affairs for a national Hispanic non-profit organization.

During his professional career, Mr. Schmidt was active with the following organizations:

* Member, President's (George H.W. Bush) commission on Public/Private Sector Partnerships
* National Hispanic Council on International Relations
* Board Member, Ahmanson Institute for U.S./Mexico Relations
* Member, Fundacion Solidaridad Mexicano Americana
* Member, Dallas Rotary
* Member, Dallas International Trade Association

Mr. Schmidt's considerable bi-lingual and bi-cultural experience is an asset to TWU's Command Spanish(TM) program. His ability to impart industry specific language and provide insight to the Hispanic culture as well as to understand both sides of the cultural equation is rare and valuable indeed.
