Welcome to the College of Arts and Sciences at Texas Woman’s University.  With over 5,000 students, we are the largest and most diverse college on campus.  Areas of study in the College encompass the arts, humanities, social sciences, natural sciences and mathematics, and business.  Our mission is to provide all students at TWU a liberal arts education that is essential for career success, leadership, global citizenship, and a lifetime of learning.

The College prepares graduates with a broad knowledge and understanding of the world; an in-depth knowledge of their area of specialty; sophisticated intellectual, critical thinking, and practical skills; a strong sense of personal, ethical, and civic responsibility for making a difference in society; and the ability to apply their education to enrich every aspect of their lives.

The College of Arts and Sciences includes 20 departments and programs, as well as a School of the Arts, and a School of Management.  We offer bachelor’s degrees in over 45 areas, and over 30 graduate degrees, including seven doctoral degrees.

New students to the College enter a culture of scholarship in which faculty research and creative accomplishment inform teaching and learning.  Not only graduate students, but undergraduates, are encouraged to participate in research, performance, artistic, and service projects—in collaboration with or under the direction of capable faculty.  Opportunities for student learning abound through classroom interaction, online courses, internships, community service work, study tours across the country and around the world, independent study, participation and leadership in student organizations, and more.

Students in the College of Arts and Sciences are educated to understand our global community in which people of the world are interconnected and are interdependent.  Graduates are prepared as professionals for leadership positions in their fields of study, and as responsible global citizens—informed about societal issues and problems, with the commitment and expertise to work collaboratively to solve them.

We encourage you to explore our website and those of the departments and programs in which you are interested.  Visit our beautiful campus.  And please contact us at CAS@twu.edu if we can provide additional information or assistance.  Welcome!
