11th Annual Edible Car Contest

From a Dallas Morning News Report 03/07/2009

The university sponsored its 11th annual Edible Car Contest, featuring 39 teams from 11 area middle and high schools. The students built model cars from foodstuffs - the more creative, the better - then rolled them down a 10-foot ramp. The teams were not allowed to spend more than $10 per car. Each vehicle had to have three or four wheels that rolled.  And there were size restrictions. Beyond that, "anything edible is game," said Anna Bussart of TWU's College of Arts and Sciences, the project coordinator. Members of the TWU math, science and engineering departments judged the cars on their aerodynamics, style, design, creativity, durability and speed.  A team from the Education Center, a charter school in Little Elm, won for the second year in a row.
