All students who are required to take the English Placement Test must demonstrate proficiency in standard English usage and must demonstrate certain basic essay-writing skills. The test consists of timed essay written in response to one of several prompts. The student has one hour.
Exemptions for the English Placement test are as follows:
- SAT verbal scores of 440 or higher
- ACT English scores of 18 or higher
- THEA writing score of 240 or higher
- Students who have college level credit for English 1013
- a score of 4 or more on an approved AP exam
- scores from the 60th percentile or greater on an approved CLEP exam
Students, please be sure to bring a copy of your scores with you to orientation.
